Description of the selection of security seals
Seals are the most common security device affixed to goods, doors, warehouses, etc. They have been in use for decades. In Poland, the lead versions, crimped with a sealing device, are mainly recognised. However, for several years they have been replaced by more advanced products, the application of which does not require the use of additional tools. Security models can therefore be divided into many groups from:
- The material they are made of:
- Plastic seals
- Metal seals
- Plastic seals with metal insert
- stickers
- Use for
- Transport
- Containers
- Doors
- Bags
- Functions and level of security to be provided
- Indicative seals
- Barrier seals
- Indicator – barrier seals
What to look for when choosing seals?
The selection of products in this category is often influenced by their price. However, it's important to remember that even the seemingly simplest models have features that can greatly impact the level of protection they provide. In case of plastic seals, which are the most commonly chosen, it is important to consider the following points
- Build quality, gaps between the locking chamber and the strap, flexibility
- Locking chamber security method: It is most commonly made of two components joined by welding, adhesive bonding, or ultrasonic sealing. Undoubtedly, the safest option in this case is a one-piece chamber, which is resistant to tampering and separation. The Multiseal 350 and Multiseal 250 models feature this type of secure chamber.
- Marking method: The most durable marking method is laser engraving. Some companies use less durable techniques that can be easily washed off or rubbed away, making identification impossible.
- Origin: The Far Eastern market has caused significant disruption in the security seal industry by mass-producing copies of popular models, including replicas of existing Chinese versions. As a result, no one can guarantee the uniqueness of serial numbering for such products.
